Iranian doc ‘Poets of Life’ to compete in South Korea

Iranian documentary ‘Poets of Life’ is to compete at the 14th Green Film Festival in Seoul.

Iranian documentary ‘Poets of Life’ directed by Shirin Barghnavard has been scheduled to compete at the 14th edition of the Green Film Festival in Seoul (GFFIS) in South Korea.

The 73-minute doc will go on screen at the Green Competition section of the Korean event with English subtitles in two sessions on May 20 and 24.

‘Poets of Life’ is about Shirin Parsi who returns to Iran and begins rice farming after receiving a BA in French literature from the University of Paris. Her family promotes sustainable farming and refrains from using chemical pesticides and fertilizers.

In a region where more and more farmers are selling their farms at very cheap prices to developers, her family produces 100% organic rice. This film follows her efforts to bring about social and environmental change.

Green Film Festival in Seoul is the first and biggest film festival in Korea focusing on environmental issues. Launched in 2004 by Korea Green Foundation, GFFIS is a festival that seeks to share the hope for a better world where all the lives can live in harmony with environment and nature.

Through cinema, the festival hopes to promote ideas of environmental protection and life respect to encourage public awareness and action for positive changes.

The 14th edition of the Green Film Festival is slated for May 18-24, 2017.
